10Deep and Ill Intent

So, a lot of people lately are asking me, "what's up with 10 Deep?" For anyone that may not know, 10 Deep is an underground clothing brand based out of Brooklyn New York. They have been making clothing for the streetwear industry since 1995 and have been hands-down my favorite brand for years. 10Deep have always put out a good quality, good looking product that I can back for both aesthetic and ethical value. 10Deep has always had ties to underground culture as they are making big moves in the Hip Hop world, by putting on acts like Kid Cudi, Wale, Drake and soon to be household name, Donnis. 10D is also making leaps and bounds in the skateboarding world as well. Myself, growing up as a skater and a huge fan of hip hop, it was an easy connection for me to find and appreciate this brand for what they were. Obviously, it would be a limiting statement to say that I am only a hip hop skateboarder, because I am also very into the underground punk/hardcore scene as well as being an artist my whole life. Working at The Cool, a streetwear boutique in Tacoma, Washington, I was able to be put in a position to communicate and politic with the fellas over at 10Deep. Since 10Deep is so largely connected with the underground it was an easy alliance between the brand and Ill Intent. For me, the linking of the two underground subcultures makes worlds of sense and I am pretty excited to be working with them in the future.
That being said, I got the chance to swing by their office in Brooklyn last night. I was welcomed with handshakes and great hospitatlity. Before, I had only spoken to Josh on the phone and it was awesome to meet him, Scott and the other guys on the crew in the flesh to chop it up and politic about Ill Intent, The streetwear game, the current state and what lies ahead in the future.
It was definitely a refreshing experience to meet some really down to earth, humble people with likeminded interests and goals.
Like I said before, I look forward to see what lies ahead for 10Deep and hopefully Ill Intent can help push them further into the realm of punk/hardcore and other similar underground sub cultures that we dabble in.
I usually don't write long entries likes this, so I figure I might as well mention that Ill Intent has a new record dropping this winter and we are really proud of it. It consists of 12 songs and is about 26 minutes long. We put in a lot of work in the writing process and are extremely excited for the reaction to this release. I took a lof time to write the lyrics and I really feel that the lyrical quality shows through and that most people can relate to the issues that we all face. The record is still Ill Intent through and through, but we've definitely progressed light years from where we were last year at this time. All the touring and playing that we have done has brought us closer as people, friends, bandmates and musicians. We're all on the same page musically and I can't wait to see what lies ahead for us. I hope to see you out on the road or at a local show sometime soon. Thanks for reading.
